This IICRC Carpet Repair and Reinstallation Technician (RRT) course is a must-have class for carpet cleaning technicians and fire and water damage restoration contractors. This class teaches techniques and safety issues related to carpet repair and re-installation, carpet construction, assessment process prior to cleaning, tools of the trade, floor preparation, adhesives, carpet cushion (pad, underlay) installation, tackstrip (gripper) and moldings, seaming, and proper stretching. In this class you will learn how to properly remove wet carpet without destroying it and then reinstall it properly. You will learn how to open seams that WILL go back together. You will learn how to make the jigsaw puzzle pieces fit back in.

This class also teaches various repairs that the carpet cleaner/restorer may come up against while dealing with an installed textile. This knowledge will enable the technician to recognize and avoid installation problems that may arise while performing carpet cleaning or restoration efforts as well as how to correct many issues encountered. This course will enable the participant to obtain IICRC-RRT certification.

Topics that are covered include: the opportunity; tools and equipment; history of carpet; carpet construction (woven and tufted); types of installations including stretch-in, direct glue down and more; accepted installation standards and guidelines from the S500; tackstrip (gripper) for wood and concrete; carpet cushion (pad, underlay) preparation and installation; correct seaming procedures; the complete installation sequence taught and demonstrated; power stretching versus knee kicker; carpet repairs (bonded insert and pile grafting; and re-stretching.

The livestream Coach8 RRT course is held over a 4-day period, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) each day.

Earn 2 IICRC Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for attending this course.

To receive your certification you must pass an IICRC examination. If you intend to complete the exam as part of the livestream course, you must complete a separate exam registration process that is described on our Livestream Courses page.
